About Us

Who We Are

The Red Sea Conservation Initiative is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the unique marine biodiversity of the Red Sea. Founded in 2020 by a team of marine biologists, conservationists, and technology experts, we bring together cutting-edge tools and collaborative approaches to address the urgent challenges facing this extraordinary ecosystem.

Our team consists of scientists, engineers, local community members, and conservation professionals who share a deep commitment to safeguarding the Red Sea for future generations. We believe that effective conservation requires both innovative technology and strong partnerships with the communities who call the Red Sea home.

Through our work, we aim to create a replicable model for marine conservation that balances scientific rigor with practical, on-the-ground implementation.

Who We Are

Our Mission

To advance the conservation of Red Sea marine biodiversity through innovative technology, rigorous scientific research, and meaningful community partnerships. We strive to develop scalable, evidence-based solutions that ensure sustainable protection and management of marine ecosystems for generations to come.

Who We Are

Our Vision

A thriving Red Sea ecosystem where cutting-edge science and local communities work together in harmony.

We envision a future where advanced technology empowers conservation efforts, where marine life flourishes, and where human activity exists in balance with ecological health—creating a global model for sustainable ocean conservation.

Why The Red Sea

The Red Sea is one of the most biodiverse marine environments on Earth, home to over 1,200 species of fish and 200 species of coral—many of which exist nowhere else on the planet. Its unique geography and oceanographic conditions create an ecosystem unlike any other.

However, this precious ecosystem faces mounting pressures from climate change, coastal development, overfishing, and pollution.

The Red Sea's relatively isolated nature makes it both vulnerable to these threats and an ideal location for developing and testing innovative conservation approaches that can be scaled globally.

By focusing our efforts here, we can protect a critical biodiversity hotspot while pioneering methods that will benefit marine conservation worldwide.

Our Approach

Technology

We leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, 3D photogrammetry, and GIS mapping to monitor marine ecosystems with unprecedented precision. Our technological tools allow us to collect, analyze, and share data at scales previously impossible, enabling faster response times and more informed decision-making.

Science

Rigorous scientific methodology forms the foundation of all our work. We collaborate with leading marine research institutions, publish peer-reviewed studies, and ensure that every conservation action is grounded in robust evidence. Our commitment to scientific excellence ensures credibility and effectiveness.

Community

Conservation cannot succeed without the involvement and support of local communities. We work directly with dive operators, fishermen, tourism providers, and coastal residents to create sustainable solutions that respect livelihoods while protecting marine life. Community knowledge is invaluable to our success.
